September is Hunger Action Month.

In honor of 𝙋𝙊𝙒/𝙈𝙄𝘼 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙋𝘼, we welcomed retired Pfc. U.S. Army Jessica Lynch to the Senate floor.

She became the first American POW to be successfully rescued since World War II.

While serving in Iraq, she was captured on March 23, 2003, and was held captive by Iraqi forces after her unit was ambushed, leaving her severely injured.

After some time in the custody of the Iraqi army regiment that had captured her, she was taken to a hospital in An Nasiriyah.

U.S. forces were tipped off as to Lynch`s whereabouts by an Iraqi.

@senatordevlinrobinson`s unit fought door-to-door to aid in her rescue.

She is a true hero and inspiration.

The Bridge Educational Foundation presented $50,000 of pre-kindergarten scholarships to Queen of Angels School in North Huntington! 👏🏼🍎📝

The scholarship funds were made possible through the Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program.

I was honored to help celebrate the reveal of @westmorelandfoodbank’s Mobile Market!

This Mobile Market truck will allow the food bank to bring a full-service market to under-served areas of Westmoreland County and introduce the community to food bank services in a new way.

This custom-built mobile food market truck will carry fresh produce and other staples to areas identified as high-need areas in which transportation is difficult because of infrastructure shortfalls or because individuals cannot access it, as well as of high population density.

Today’s ribbon cutting for Frank B. Fuhrer Wholesale Co. — a family-owned beer & malt beverage wholesaler here in southwestern PA. 🎉🍻

With nearly 125 good-paying jobs expected at this facility, this is a great opportunity for our region.

22 years ago today, our United States of America faced one of the most gut-wrenching moments in our history — a terrorist attack on our country’s soil in New York City.

Within an hour of the Twin Towers collapsing, a small town in rural Pennsylvania, Shanksville, became a household name around the globe.

I am forever grateful and will always remember the first responders and citizen heroes who responded that day from our local communities and from across Pennsylvania.

As I sit and watch the news replaying the videos and calls from that day, it still feels just as devastating. That day changed our nation, but we are a resilient nation and even on America’s toughest days, we are still the greatest nation in the world.
